Here is a busy week in the life of Dan Zen. Most weeks would be about half as busy, but the Halloween season is always and exciting time! Let's take a look at the projects that Zen worked on this week.
Crazy Carpet Mural ▲ Dave Hind, Darryl Gold and Dan Zen installed the Dan Zen Isomorphisms of Hierarchy mural at 8AM on Sunday morning. The mural is made from used and new crazy carpets and the images come from Zen's creativity framework at https://creativityframework.com.
Touch Football ▲ Dan Zen founded the touch football game at Sanctuary Park in Dundas. The game has been going for over ten years from 10-12 every Sunday. Very rarely does Zen miss the game. He often quarterbacks for both sides.
Dan Zen Expo ▲ Dan Zen has been spending most Sundays and Mondays preparing the Expo and this week it was the Scraps Exhibit. Zen located a dozen scrap boxes and bags, and arranged the contents on a black backing in the living room. He then photographed the scraps and wrote about the history of various items. He promoted and posted the event on Social Media. SCRAPS EXHIBIT
Disc Golf ▲ Dan Zen has been an avid Frisbee player for most of his life. In his teens he organized Frisbee golf games with the neighborhood kids using trees as the targets. Zen keeps a disc in the car and regularly plays with his students at Sheridan. Thankfully, one of the most beautiful courses in the world is near his home in Dundas at Christies Conservation area. On this eighteen basket course, Zen shot a two under with his son, Elliot.
Creativity Symposium ▲ Dan Zen gave a ninety minute workshop at the Sheridan Creates Symposium. The workshop was entitled How to Achieve and Teach Purposeful Creativity. Fresh from a TEDx talk on inventing, Dan Zen will show you how to use a concise Creativity Framework to create on demand. No more waiting for "aha!". One attendee commented that she learned more about creativity than all her prior training at Sheridan which is pretty good considering she was taking courses from the International Center for Studies in Creativity with their masters of Science degree in creative studies. Another said Zen should have been the Keynote and another was amazed Zen told her how her mind works!
Student Tutorials ▲ Dan Zen teaches the Interactive Media post grad at Sheridan in Oakville, Canada. This was reading week so he invited students to a tutorial to go over the basics. Zen had the students do the work on the board rather than the other way around and the experience was very beneficial and rewarding. E-LEARNING EXHIBIT
Yoga Tales 4 ▲ Dan Zen wrote the fourth episode of intrigue and romance in the Yoga world. The story was created in Dan Zen's pseudo interactive story telling tool, Altura. Zen promoted the story on social media and popped in to a few Yoga studios to follow up on stickers that were sent to them a week or two ago. VISIT YOGA TALES
Droner Promo Video ▲ Dan Zen edited a couple hours of footage of Madeline, Ava and Andrew playing droner dressed in dronewear in a decorated downstairs into a two minute promo. Droner is the mobile app where you get to control your friends. VISIT DRONER
Dragon Hedge ▲ For the past dozen years, Dan Zen has turned the hedge into a dragon for the Halloween season. Now his house is known as the House of the Red Dragon. Cut from wood put on broomsticks and painted. Time to put out the dragon!
Food ▲ Of course, time is devoted during the week to food! Zen reads or watches movies while eating. Here Zen has made a Yogurt with honey, lemon and nutmeg concoction - mmm. FOOD EXHIBIT
Flying Carpet! ▲ For Halloween, Dan Zen floated on a Flying Carpet. The costume took a day to make and won the most Bizarre Costume award with RoseAnne's No Face from Spirited Away at the Haunted Hamilton Carnival. At the event were about 500 people and everyone dressed up like you would not believe! Zen floated through the crowd and had hundreds of pictures taken and endless high-fives. The audience applause when announced a winner was thunderous! It is bound to be Zen's proudest moment. Although, he has won Halloween costume parties through out his life ;-) DRESSUP EXHIBIT
That gives a pretty good look at a public week in the life of Dan Zen. May all your weeks be as enjoyable! Zen thanks his family and friends and the wonderful city of Hamilton for such adventures.
