Environment

Dedicated to the activist in us all

Dan Zen is a little different when it comes to being an environmentalist. Along with the natural environment, Zen cares dearly for the social and creative environments in which we live.
The Whole World ▲ A video from the early days of YouTube about all the world standing side by side and front to back. Obviously, our Carbon Footprint is important, but the facts do make you wonder how we could share or allocate resources better.

Dan Zen - Environment - Personal Energy Value PEV
Our Time ▲ An article about factoring in our time with respect to energy calculations. Dan Zen give the example that our time should be considered when riding a bike to work rather than driving. Some of this is direct energy consideration - the energy to keep us alive. Other considerations are more indirect but interesting to consider. FULL REPORT

Dan Zen - Environment - Car Curling
Car Curling ▲ In this mash of Zen Mix mixes, Dan Zen shows us examples of Car Curling an environmentally friendly driving game where you try not to use your brakes. As you approach a group of stopped cars, you stop accelerating and glide towards them seeing if you can glide to a stop just behind them.. LEARN HOW
Dan Zen - Environment - Road Sage
Road Sage ▲ A digital award winning Interactive Project for an Urban Art Show at the Art Gallery of Hamilton. It was a cute project that uses Flash (sorry mobile world). The project imagines a time when cars and vans would disappear around homes and be replaced with garden paths. The vehicles would be parked around the outside of the survey and carts would be used between homes – sort of like in the Village in the Prisoner show from the sixties.. VISIT SAGE
Dan Zen - Environment - Ban Van
BanVan ▲ A Dan Zen activist site that reminds us to consider the environment when making vehicle choices. Of course public transit, bicycles, etc. also work. ENTER BANVAN
Dan Zen - Environment - Inventing in the Environmental Age
Environmental Age ▲ A Dan Zen article prefaced with: 'A friend of mine and I wanted to sit down and figure out what age we are in. Has the "Information Age" passed? Has the "Space Age" been put on hold? So just today, it came to me – this is or should be the Environmental Age.' FULL STORY

Dan Zen - Creativity Framework
Hour With Inventor Dan Zen ▲ A Mix of Mashes showing Dan Zen taking a tour of the Workshop and discussing the Unjunk Movement, and various ways to reuse. EXPLORE WORKSHOP
Dan Zen - Environment - Programming Puzzle

Mobile Mediated ▲ Touchy is Dan Zen mobile game where you try and touch a target on the screens of other players' mobile devices. This encourages people to get out of their devices and back in the real world - and yet, still get to use their device. This is more along the lines of Zen's social environmental causes and is one app in a series. VISIT TOUCHY

Mobile Mediated ▲ Tilty is the follow up Dan Zen mobile game to Touchy where you try and hold your devices level as you wrestle with other players. Part of the mobile mediated series to encourage people to get out of their devices and back in the real world. VISIT TILTY

Mobile Mediated ▲ Droner is the Dan Zen app where you get to control your friends. This is a multiuser party game that sets up the social environment of fun roll-playing, light acting and laughable shenanigans VISIT DRONER

Mobile Mediated ▲ Trippy is the Dan Zen app to go along with his cardboard shoebox helmet to give an augmented reality look at life - blend modes to make people look like Zombies or set in Kaleidoscoped environments. VISIT TRIPPY
Environmental Songs ▲ No War is a Dan Zen song hoping for peace. One of a half dozen songs about our world in peril - but Dan Zen still finds hope.

Environmental Songs ▲ How is it - an environmental song about progress.
