Arthur Ellis literary award

The Sixth Family: The Collapse of the New York Mafia and the Rise of Vito Rizzuto

NEWS

The Weasel by Adrian Humphreys has been shortlisted for the 2012 Arthur Ellis literary award for non-fiction.

The nominees for the 29th annual book prize were revealed at simultaneous ceremonies in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Ottawa on April 19.

Honouring the best in Canadian crime writing, the awards highlight an esteemed list of books in non-fiction and fiction categories, selected by a jury organized by the Crime Writers of Canada.

The awards are named for Arthur Ellis, the pseudonym of Canada’s official hangman, back when Canada had such a thing. In honour of its namesake, the award statue (seen on the left) is a wooden model of a hanging man.

Winners will be named at an awards gala in Toronto on May 31.
